Why You'll Love a Day of Coordinator for Your Wedding

How do you want to feel on your wedding day? Do you want to sweat the details, overseeing setup and breakdown for your reception? My guess is that you want to focus on the heartstopping moments, like your first look and vow exchange. You know, the moments that are about your relationship! A day of coordinator can make all the difference for couples who want to stay present on their wedding day. In this blog post, I share how a day of coordinator can help you along with recommendations for some of my favorites in the Buffalo area.

How Your Day of Coordinator can Give You a Breezier Wedding Experience

Your day of coordinator is one of the most important vendors you’ll hire because they’ll make sure you actually get to feel present on your wedding day. They oversee the details while you soak up all the love from your community. Day of coordinators are logistics people. They get it done.

You may be wondering how this is different from working with a wedding planner. Wedding planners come in at the very start of the wedding planning process. They help you figure out your vision for your celebration, translate that into a cohesive event design, and identify vendors who can bring the vision to life.

Day of coordinators come in later in the process. You essentially hand off the big wedding day tasks so you don’t have to stress them on top of those wedding butterflies. Many planners work with coordinators to execute their ideas on the big day.

Day of Coordinators in Buffalo

As a Buffalo wedding photographer, I've worked with a number of day of coordinators in and around the city. Here are four who have made my clients' wedding experiences so much more enjoyable.

Casey at Kelly Kaz Photography

Casey works at Kelly Kaz Photography. You read that right! Casey is actually my sister. She has a degree in hospitality management along with plenty of experience in the Buffalo wedding industry. She’s coordinated weddings and events at Pearl Street, Lafayette Hotel, and The Terrace at Delaware Park.

Being siblings, Casey and I communicate really well around our clients’ needs. We’ve worked a handful of weddings together, and I honestly can’t wait to do it again! For information on booking her services, head to the bottom of this blog post.

Sara at Good Neighbor Events

Sara is a day of coordinator at Good Neighbor Events. This group prides itself on working with diverse couples to plan nontraditional weddings. I’ve seen Sara transform a very DIY venue into something magical.

Your Dream Photography and Day of Coordination Team

Are you thinking, “Hey! What about that wedding photographer - day of coordinator combo you mentioned?”

Let’s talk about it! Like I said before, I love photographing weddings that my sister Casey coordinates. I’m a hands-on wedding photographer in the sense that I love supporting my clients in the planning process. If you want vendor recommendations, nontraditional wedding ideas, or someone to bounce ideas off of, I’m your Wedding Bestie!

Casey comes in to oversee the implementation of all your amazing ideas in the weeks leading up to your wedding. She’s present during our final call to touch base about the details of your timeline and photos. This is where we get on the same page about your vision for any special decor or items that need to be set up.

Here’s a rundown of Casey’s services:

  • Running ceremony rehearsal the day prior to the wedding. If your venue runs their own rehearsal, Casey will assist.

  • Overseeing the execution of all wedding plans during the event.

  • Coordinating with vendors to ensure a smooth timeline. She will need a list of all vendors and their contact information.

  • Helping set up any decor.

  • Troubleshooting any issues that come up the day of your wedding. This is where the vendor phone numbers come in handy!

On the day of your wedding, Casey makes sure that you don’t need to put out any fires. You just enjoy the night you’ve worked so hard for. When are all your people going to be in one place like this again? So grab a drink, hit the dance floor, and let your day of coordinator take care of the rest.
