Joyful Summer Wedding at The Richardson Hotel with Colorful Photos

The Richardson Hotel is a stunning Buffalo wedding venue. Its historic charm and modern touches make it an ideal setting for a wedding. When rain changed Christine and Matthew’s ceremony plans, they discovered just how flexible and beautiful this space really is.

The Richardson Hotel: A Buffalo Wedding Venue

As a wedding venue, The Richardson Hotel has just about everything. The hotel includes rooms, a restaurant, café, and event spaces. Its spacious green lawn is perfect for ceremonies and cocktail hours. The architectural details inside are so charming that you’ll get unforgettable photos even on rainy days.

The Richardson Hotel is owned by the same group that runs The Roycroft Inn and The Mansion on Delaware Avenue. They know how to make a wedding day run smoothly. The Richardson can accommodate anything from a small wedding to a celebration of up to 200 guests.

Because the Richardson is so well-equipped, you can have your entire day there like Christine and Matthew did. The hotel can provide almost everything, including catering, bar service, accommodations, furniture, and dishware. It makes your life way easier than if you had to rent it all.

Built in the 1800s, The Richardson is now part of the Richardson Olmstead Campus. The green space connects Buffalo’s most beautiful cultural sites. It’s a short walk to the city’s best parks and art museums. If you have wedding guests coming in from out of town, a stay at The Richardson is a good way to show off the best of Buffalo.

Colorful Wedding Photos at a Historic Venue

Sometimes I’m lucky enough to meet clients at the weddings I’m photographing. That was the case with Christine and Matthew. Christine was maid of honor for bride Sara at her 2022 wedding at the Roycroft Inn. (You can see that Roycroft Inn wedding here.) Christine and I clicked at Sara’s wedding, and I was so excited to hear from her for her 2024 wedding!

Both Christine and Matthew are adventurous and active. They brought their vibrant energy to their wedding at The Richardson Hotel with colorful florals. Bright red, gold, and pink blooms filled bouquets, wrapped around the ceremony arch, and perched on their tiered cake.

I love that Christine and Matthew found ways to make this historic wedding venue their own. Their wedding had so much joy and life. You really see that in these energetic wedding photos.

We realized early on that Christine and Matthew were destined for a rainy wedding day. Thankfully, we were able to do the first look and portraits outside in between showers. I’m glad we got this opportunity because The Richardson Hotel looked like a castle behind them. You don’t see a lot of venues like this around Buffalo.

Christine and Matthew’s Fun Celebration

Originally, Christine and Matthew planned to hold their ceremony on the front steps of The Richardson Hotel. You can imagine how beautiful that would have been on a sunny day. Christine felt a little let down, but the staff at The Richardson came together to create a beautiful ceremony space indoors on the hotel’s second floor. Everything came together wonderfully. Their guests sat comfortable and dry inside while they watched Christine and Matthew exchange personal vows.

Music played a big part in Christine and Matthew’s wedding day. At their ceremony, their friend played the trumpet for their recessional. The Silver Arrow Band took over for the cocktail hour and reception.

It was really important to Christine and Matthew to spend time with their guests and loved ones. At the reception both of their fathers gave speeches. Matt’s twin brother served as his best man. He gave a speech along with Christine’s best friend and maid of honor Sara.

The rest of the night was spent on the dance floor! Everyone grooved to the music of the Silver Arrow Band. It was exactly the fun experience Christine and Matt had hoped it would be.
