There’s no shortage of advice on wedding planning out there, but a lot of it is geared towards bashes with 100+ guests. If you’re planning an intimate ceremony or micro wedding, you’re not necessarily looking for the same things out of a wedding venue. In this blog post, I share seven of my favorite small wedding locations in the Buffalo area. Find the one that’s perfect for your celebration!
7 Gorgeous Small Wedding Locations in Buffalo
1. The Terrace at Delaware Park
The Terrace at Delaware Park is a favorite among Buffalo’s small wedding locations. Located on Hoyt Lake in the park, the Terrace gives you the relaxing, upscale feeling of a waterfront venue. It’s not far from the sights in Elmwood and Downtown, too. You can get a wide variety of photos on your wedding day.
This venue is great for anyone who wants to have a relaxed, elegant family-style meal for their reception. Thanks to portable heaters, you can even enjoy the lake views in the depths of winter.

2. Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens
If you’re getting married at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, no doubt you’ll want time in the incredible greenhouse. You can even have your ceremony there! The combination of the domed glass building and lush plants make you feel like you’re in the tropics, not Western New York.
The Botanical Gardens is a great small wedding location year-round. Lena and Nick held a truly unique Halloween-themed micro wedding there. Check it out in this blog post!
3. Curtiss Hotel
The Curtiss Hotel is a boutique hotel in Downtown Buffalo. Beautiful architectural details cover the hotel inside and out. In 2017, a developer renovated it with sensitivity to its historic beauty. The hotel also houses a spa. Let any wedding stress melt away with a pre-wedding massage.
Unlike many hotels that focus on huge events, the Curtiss Hotel actually has spaces designed to host small celebrations. One rooftop room, for example, seats 50 guests. You’ll love the sunset views from the rooftop!
4. The Brickhall in the Hollow
The Brickhall in the Hollow is about 35 minutes outside of Buffalo in Clarence, NY. It’s one of the most distinct small wedding locations on this list. Built in the 19th century as a Presbyterian church, the building has a rustic exterior. The inside has been stunningly renovated with warm wood floors and chandeliers. The natural light here is absolutely incredible.
5. Kin Loch Farmstead
Kin Loch Farmstead is a lavender farm on the Niagara Wine Trail. It’s only a half hour from the city but feels like a world apart. You can have an outdoor ceremony shaded by trees. Time your wedding right, and lavender can perfume your celebrations. This venue is a beautiful combination of gorgeous and down to earth.
6. Frank Lloyd Wright’s Darwin D. Martin House
Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Darwin D. Martin House. It’s everything you’d expect from Wright’s design. A series of buildings interconnect on the beautifully landscaped property to create a network of bold, whimsical spaces.
You can host a dinner party reception with as few as ten guests. Many people love to hold their ceremony in the indoor conservatory. It features a skylight, statue, and tropical plants. It’s a dramatic, one-of-a-kind space.
7. Wayland Brewing Company
Wayland Brewing Company is the most modern of the small wedding locations on this roundup. Wayland Hall is their minimalist event space. The pale wood and off-white palette give you space to amp up the color with your decor and florals if you want. The venue does full-service catering. And, of course, you can have the bar stocked with Wayland’s beers and ciders.
