The Adirondacks have a special kind of beauty, and a wedding in Lake Placid is the perfect way to incorporate that into your story. Madi and Art chose The Lake Placid Club as their Lake Placid wedding venue. Their welcoming, lighthearted wedding day was a dream complete with romantic portraits and fun candids.
A Beautiful Lake Placid Wedding Venue
As a Lake Placid wedding venue, The Lake Placid Club offers just about everything you could want. It has incredible views of the Adirondacks and a large covered pavilion for receptions. The interior has the kind of aesthetic you’d expect in the area, including lots of warm woodwork and stone fireplaces.
Your experience at The Lake Placid Club will vary a bit season to season. In summer, you can host twice as many guests (300 as opposed to 150 in the winter). Even in winter, though, you can enjoy the views and the cozy atmosphere inside. Packages for this Lake Placid wedding venue start at $15,000.
A Heartfelt Celebration
For college sweethearts Art and Madi, Lake Placid Club really was the perfect Lake Placid wedding venue for them. Art is actually a professional golf player. His wedding party and family got a few swings in after the ceremony. Art grew up skiing and golfing in the Adirondacks, so getting married here felt like a full circle moment.
Madi and Art’s whole relationship has been marked by love and support from all the most important people in their lives. Madi’s mom helped Art plan his proposal. Then, when Madi and Art decided to get married on the East Coast, Madi’s family threw a big West Coast engagement party. Loved ones traveled from all over the country to join them on their wedding weekend. Guests from as far as Washington and Florida were overjoyed to celebrate this couple.
The day before the wedding, Art and Madi kicked off the weekend with a rehearsal at the venue. A relaxed dinner followed at Art’s family’s lake house. A boat ferried everyone to the house on an island in East Lake. At sunset, I snuck away with Art and Madi for some dreamy photos on the lake. Art’s sister boated us around as we chased the light for a half hour before rejoining the festivities on land. I took a few group photos but mainly spent the evening capturing candid moments as loved ones reunited.
Art and Madi’s Fun Wedding Day
The next day, I met up with Madi and Art at their Lake Placid wedding venue. Both wedding parties got ready in the boathouse residences, which are right on Mirror Lake. The day was delayed a touch when it turned out that none of the groomsmen knew how to tie bow ties. Luckily, Artie was able to tie them all.
As guests arrived, they took a seat and soaked in the view. This Lake Placid wedding venue has an incredible view of the mountains and forests as a backdrop for ceremonies. It was a gorgeous place to witness the touching ceremony officiated by Madi’s uncle.
Cocktail hour provided more opportunities for candid photos of Madi, Art, and their guests. The whole night was a blast from there. The wedding party had fun with their introductions before Madi and Art’s first dance. As the staff served dinner, we listened to five speeches. Collectively, they were some of the most creative and moving speeches I’ve heard. I feel very lucky to have documented these expressions of care and community.
Finally, it was time for sunset photos on the golf course with the stunning Adirondack Mountains as our backdrop. Before we knew it, it was time to cut the cake and do the parent dances. The dance floor then opened for one of the wildest and funnest dance parties I’ve ever seen.
